Why would you need an extension?
By placing the clock far away from the bed the extension provides an effective method of ensuring that the user gets out of bed to shut off the alarm. It is also beneficial for those that toss and turn frequently during sleep so that the clock remains on the nightstand, instead on the floor or in the bed.
